Frederic K Passmann, M.D. “Rick” was born into a US Air Force family with deep medical roots. Both of his parents served in the US Air Force medical services, his Mom an Air Force Nurse and his Dad a Pilot with the aerospace rescue and recovery detachment. Dr. Passmann was born in Clovis, New Mexico. Throughout his childhood, his family lived in all over the world; the longest and most memorable time being spent in Ramstein, Germany.  Rick graduated from high school in Detroit, Michigan and upon graduation joined the US Air Force, where he served for four years.  After his term with the US Air Force, Rick attended Midwestern State University where he received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biochemistry. Rick continued his education at Texas Tech University School of Medicine and graduated as a M.D..

After graduation, Dr. Passmann remained in Lubbock for his training in Family Medicine. His first official position as a physician was in Tahoka, Texas; where he practiced Emergency Medicine and Primary Care.  Rick moved on to Palestine TX to serve as the Emergency Department Director and the EMS Director for Anderson County. In addition, he worked throughout the State of Texas for a number of contract management groups before returning school in 2000 to train in anesthesia at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center.  After spending some time in San Antonio, Dr. Passmann settled down in Smithville, TX for 13 years. While at Smithville, Dr. Passmann worked at Smithville Regional Hospital as the Chief of Emergency Medicine and the Chief of Staff. Rick also started a Hospitalist program, which is a rare service in a small rural hospital setting.  The small hospital was sold to a large corporation and after having worked for more than a decade at Smithville, Dr. Passmann went to work at the exclusive Westlake Hospital located in Austin, TX before moving to Aspermont in 2012.

Dr. Passmann is married and his wife Theresa, who is a RN, is continuing her education to become a Nurse Practitioner.  The Passmann’s are the proud parents of 5 boys and one girl-- the youngest of the bunch!
